Detailed description

In June 2021, Philips issued a voluntary recall for certain models of its continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machines, bilevel positive airway pressure (BiPAP) machines, and mechanical ventilators due to a potential defect in the sound abatement foam used in these devices.

The foam can break down and release small particles and chemicals into the air that users breathe, which may lead to cancer, respiratory problems, and other health issues.

The foam in question is used to reduce the sound levels of the machines and is made from a polyester-based polyurethane (PE-PUR) material. The recall includes various models of Philips Respironics CPAP and BiPAP machines, as well as mechanical ventilators used in hospitals and homes.

As a result, individuals who have used these machines and have suffered health issues such as cancer, respiratory problems, headaches, dizziness, and other health complications are filing lawsuits against Philips.

Plaintiffs claim that Philips knew about the risks associated with the foam used in their machines but failed to adequately warn consumers or take necessary steps to address the issue.

If you have used a Philips CPAP, BiPAP, or respirator machine in the past and subsequently became sick, you may be eligible for damages ranging from $75,000 to $250,000. Fill out the form below to see if you qualify.
